Dubat

El cuerpo Dubat o "Arditis negros", estaba compuesto por soldados que pertenecían a las tropas irregulares que formaron parte de las tropas coloniales italianas en Somalia entre 1924 y 1941. El término Dubat proviene de una expresión árabe que viene a ser "turbante blanco". Inicialmente eran bandoleros y grupos armados que acabaron siendo reclutados por las fuerzas coloniales italianas para controlar las complicadas fronteras somalies. Aunque la tropa estaba formada por guerreros somalies, sus oficiales eran italianos.

The Dubat or "Black Arditis", was composed by soldiers who belonged to the irregular troops that were part of the Italian colonial troops in Somalia between 1924 and 1941. The term Dubat comes from an Arabic expression that means "white turban" . Initially they were bandits and armed groups recruited by the Italian colonial forces to control the complicated Somali borders. Although the troop was made up of Somalies warriors, their officers were Italians.

Ahún siendo un grupo irregular, el Dubat acabó distinguiendose en combate, desde las guerras coloniales italianas hasta la segunda guerra mundial.

Esta, ya, clásica figura de " La Meridiana" es otro descubrimiento que he hecho de las esculturas de Nino Pizzchemi. Las elegantes y sencillas posturas, y el cuidado del modelado es común a todas sus esculturas y me tienen encantado, es un disfrute pintarlas, aunque tienen sus detalles, como el turbante, que son algo tediosas.

This classic figure from"La Meridiana" is another discovery I have made of the sculptures of Nino Pizzchemi. The elegant and simple postures, and the care of modeling is common to all his sculptures and I am delighted, it is an pleasure to paint them, although they have their details, like the turban, which are somewhat complicated.

Esta figura la llevé un par de días al Barcelona miniatures painting group, y tuve la suerte de recibir muy buenos consejos de grandes de la pintura como Jaume Ortiz, Fernando Ruiz y Marc Masclans, en la pintura de la piel y la tela. Incluso dejaron alguna pinceladita en ella!

I took this figure to the Barcelona miniatures painting group a couple of days, and I was lucky to receive very good advice from great painters such as Jaume Ortiz, Fernando Ruiz and Marc Masclans, in the painting of skin and fabric. They even left some touch in it!
